Green Death

The tireless Delingpole (does he sleep?) has this painting on his blog with the caption - "Our glorious green future"

Our glorious green future

It is a detail from the The Triumph of Death by Pieter Bruegel the Elder (c. 1525 – 9 September 1569) -

A detail-

And another -

Yes, it does look like a world run by environmentalists. Think this is hyperbole? Then you haven't been paying attention to millions now dead and millions that will continue to die because of Greenie's war on DDT. This makes environmentalists bigger killers than Hitler,Mao or Stalin. Over sixty million dead in Africa alone by one estimate. Not only are they indifferent to this massive suffering, some(many?) are quietly satisfied-

Those who were initiated into the higher mysteries of environmentalism saw the reduction of the human population as a benefit, although they’re generally more circumspect about saying so in public these days. As quoted by Walter Williams, the founder of the Malthusian Club of Rome, Alexander King, wrote in 1990: “My own doubts came when DDT was introduced. In Guayana, within two years, it had almost eliminated malaria. So my chief quarrel with DDT, in hindsight, is that it has greatly added to the population problem.” Another charming quote comes from Dr. Charles Wurster, a leading opponent of DDT, who said of malaria deaths: “People are the cause of all the problems. We have too many of them. We need to get rid of some of them, and this is as good a way as any.”

Nice people!

Next time you come across a Greenie who wants your help(and your wallet) to save the planet, ask him about the ban on DDT and if that weighs on his soul. You may discover that likely he doesn't have one.

Since the "ban" on spraying DDT on cotton in Texas went into effect in 1972, the annual death toll from malaria has dropped from more than 2 million annually, to under 900,000 a year.

If we use your logic, we the ban on DDT in Texas now saves a million lives a year.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but you're a lot better with a paintbrush than with sequential logic.

The ban on spraying DDT on cotton in the U.S. in 1972, was not the cause of WHO's reduction in DDT use in Africa in 1965. Anyone who told you otherwise either can't read a calendar, or is lying. Mosquitoes don't migrate from the U.S. to Africa, so stopping the use of DDT inside the U.S. did not push malaria-carrying mosquitoes across the Atlantic. Whoever told you differently doesn't know beans about mosquitoes, or can't read a map, or is just plain lying to you.

Facts on DDT here.
