An unsung pièce de résistance

An Osama Bin Laden urinal -

osama bin laden urinal

Giving the bugger his due.

But shouldn’t it be hailed by arty-sharties as a masterpiece?A great work of art?

Didn’t they select Marcel Duchamp's urinal as the work of art of the 20th century?

urinal duchamp

Marcel Duchamp's urinal

So, why hasn’t the Osama urinal not been declared the new Mona Lisa, the Duchamp of the 21st century, the David of the war on terror?

Why isn’t every urinal a masterpiece? Why the discrimination, the injustice, the……racism?

Why? Why? Why?

Questions, questions……………

It is because of such criminal neglect by art-authorities that hillbillies like Brad Pitt are encouraged to desecrate such sublime art-

Obama Joker poster artist found?

The image that has created a sensation on the web was, it seems, created by a Muslim student, Firas Khateeb, studying in Chicago.

Obama Joker Poster original

Here’s his profile -

to khateeb88's photostream page

About khateeb88 / Firas Khateeb

← Photostream

I'm a 20 year old college student in Chicago studying engineering. My Kodak C743 can't do much but I still try (usually fruitlessly) to take decent pictures. For all the nice, clean, crisp pictures in my photostream, there are 5 blurry, out of focus, garbage ones that my C743 messed up lol. I really just enjoy playing around with Photoshop more than the actual picture taking.

About the TIME cover photoshop he says-

Obama the Joker

Not necessary indicative of my political views. But I do think hes not all he said he is. You can already sense he's backing off his claims of change.

The image is dated Jan 18,2009.

So far it does not appear that he is responsible for printing and putting up posters. I wonder if he knew that someone would use his image and create such a stir.

Crossposted at Liberty News Central.

Update – This is curious:

User khateeb88 / Firas Khateeb of Flickr is using the same mugshot as the user Yusuf Basrawi is using on his facebook page. Are they one and the same?

 yusuf barsawi facebook page

Basrawi's Causes -

Close Guantanamo Bay Now!
STOP caLLing MUSLIMS TERRORISTS !
Stop Global Warming
WE NEED KHILAFA

I believe Obama is sympathetic to most of these causes!

Update 2 -

received a mail a few weeks ago purpotedly from Mr. Barsawi. I asked his permission to post it here but received no reply then or since. However, just in case it is from the real Mr.Barsawi, I take the liberty of posting it here for the sake of putting things on record and because I do not wish to leave false impressions about anyone. Here goes-

Youssef Basrawi

To: what.the.heck.is.art@gmail.com

To whom it may concern (editor/blogger @ "What the heck is art"),
My name is Yusuf Basrawi and I found that I was blogged about on your website (in the story of the Obama-Joker picture). I want to clear up the confusion before it gets me in any trouble, and I hope you are willing to hear me out.
Firas AlKhateeb is a friend of mine from school. If you want to find him on facebook, all you have to do is search him. You will also see I am friends with him. The picture I have on my profile is based off a joke of all of us friends boycotting him since this whole Obama-picture news came out. We, like everyone else did not know he created the picture before this; he himself didn't find out it was circulating until earlier this week.
If you would like to be added to my FB to see the history of all this---us friends making fun of him, and me putting the picture up on boycotting him, i'd be willing to show you. However, I would have to do that with a little bit of skepticism seeing that, not knowing who I was, you have taken bits and pieces of my profile and blogged about it already. Such as my causes/groups that I have joined (just like everyone else on FB who joins every other cause a friend sends them). I hope that isn't a way of spicing up a story that doesn't hold any ground.
So if you can, please take this post down, or at least, get rid of the 2nd part, which is the part referring to me. I would not mind if I had something to do with the Obama-joker picture, however, I don't, and I would hate for this to get me into unnecessary trouble. I'm sure you know what I mean as you blog on the public net, and probably face many challenges that relate to this.
Thank you so much for reading this far into  the email, lol..and again, if you have any questions, you can ask me..I just want to be disassociated with this story. If you have any questions regarding the picture, you can try to reach Firas.

Mozart of painting?

 Kieron Williamson

A street scene from the paintbrush of a child usually involves triangle-topped boxes for houses. And often an unnaturally large dog.

But Kieron Williamson's attempts are so beautifully rendered that artists ten times his age will be filled with envy.

Experts have said that the six-year-old's atmospheric paintings, which began with harbour scenes and expanded to include rural vistas, animal portraits and landmarks, have perspective, shadow and reflections that demonstrate an ability well beyond his years.

I agree. For a six year old –amazing!

Heck, if only M.F.Husain could paint even half as well …

Let’s see- this kid is way, way better than M.F.Husain , Manjit Bawa, Jitesh Kallat, FN Souza, Tyeb Mehta, Anjolie Ela Menon, Rameshwar Broota, S.H. Raza, Jatin Das, Satish Gujral, Ganesh  Haloi, Atul Dodiya, Bhupen Khakhar, Chintan Upadhyay, Bose Krishnamachari, Bharti Kher,  Shobha Broota, Manu Parekh……..oh! this is getting endless.

Suddenly one realizes what a wasteland Indian art scene is.

Post-modern ‘art’ –subsidizing the lunatics

Michelle Malkin has more on the tax payers sweat and tears being fobbed off by post-modern ‘art’ elites. No wonder the modern arts establishment is solidly left. It is parasitical on public money i.e. taken by coercion from others(taxes).

One would like to ask them –have you, sir, no shame? But one might as well try to teach Plato to a pig.

Stimulus money for the National Endowment for the Arts is supposed to be “restricted specifically to job preservation. ”

But a look at the list of NEA stimulus projects reveals that the money is being used instead for sexual titillation. Fox News reported on some of the eye-opening projects here.

Straight from the National Endowment for the Arts website, you can check out the list for yourselves. Highlights:

(snip….snip)

· $25,000 to the Kala Institute in Berkeley, California. The Institute describes its mission as being “… to help artists sustain their creative efforts over time through its Artist-in- Residence and Fellowship Programs, and to increase appreciation of this work through exhibitions, public programming and educational efforts.” Its website includes a page describing current exhibits with a photo of a man in a jock strap and high-tops dunking a basketball and someone sticking his/her ear through a hole cut in a piece of cardboard.

(snip….snip)

· $25,000 to the “Marsh, a breeding ground for new performance” in San Francisco, California. The first two performances listed under the Marshes “playing now” calendar are: “East 14th: Tales of a reluctant Player” and “Lettuce Town Lies.” East 14th is described with the blurb: “Back in 1970’s Oakland, his stepfather forced him to be a straight A, God-fearing church boy - but he wanted to be just like his dear old Dad. Too bad he didn’t know dear old Dad was a pimp.” The blurb for “Lettucetown Lies” states: “He’s Gay. He’s Asian. He’s coming of age in Lettucetown, aka Salinas. If that’s not bad enough, he’s got a crush on a hick. If that’s not bad enough, his friends think fun is blowing up a field of lettuce. If that’s not bad enough, he has to sneak to the highschool bathroom to buy drugs and Donna Summer records. Adolescence! It’s fun, it’s lies. In Lettucetown.”

(snip….snip)

· $25,000 to Jess Curtis/Gravity, Inc. in San Francisco, California. One of their most recent works is the Symmetry Project where nude couples are mounted on each other in various poses. Note in the first pictures nude children are present with nude adults.

(snip….snip)

· $25,000 to Borderlands Theater Teatro Fronterizo, Inc. in Tucson, Arizona is delinquent in paying federal taxes (see here, last item at the bottom of the page). Recently did “School of the Americas” about Che Guevara and has upcoming “WHAT’S UNDER THAT SKIRT? A BORDERLINE LOOK AT GENDER” and “SHE WAS MY BROTHER”.

There is, unfortunately, much more.

Lunatics are running the asylum and we, the sane, are subsidizing them.

The Obama-Joker poster

This is first rate political art – extremely striking and powerful.

Tammy Bruce sighted these posters -

from a Los Angeles freeway on ramp. The ObamaJoker poster has also been seen in Hollywood. (Pic from Chris).

Update-

ObamaJoker has been done before, from the merely amusing-

obamzo

to more impressive-

obamajoketshirttop

but nothing has the heart stopping power of the image above at the top-“provocative guerilla public art” par excellence. The unknown artist deserves at least a part of the NEA grant that Obama is providing to perverts fobbing themselves off as artists.

Who picked Uncle Sam’s trillions?

Who?

Obama picks America's pockets

Great poster by Bosch Fawstin

Obama provides spine, mouth, genitals, face and anus in interconnected centrality sharing a central axis

Obama is spending $787 billion, that is about a trillion with interest, on “stimulating ” the economy. On top of that he unveiled a $3.55 trillion budget, almost tripling the deficit.”It adds $6.5 trillion to the national debt, and leaves future U.S. taxpayers (many of whom will make far less than $250,000) with the tab” He wants to mooch “almost $1 trillion in New Taxes Over Next 10 yrs

obama-debt

He’s a real prince, isn’t he? He likes to throw around trillions, one here, three there.Other people’s trillions. That keeps him merrily humming along. All work and no play make B.H.O. a dull boy, so he must play with money, lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and..……..lots of money.Sho cuuuute!

So what if $80 million fell out his knickers –it hardly even makes a rustle. It’s not even loose change in Obamaland–it would take hundreds of $80 million to come up to loose change.

So who cares if this is where it ends up-

The National Endowment for the Arts may be spending some of the money it received from the Recovery and Reinvestment Act to fund nude simulated-sex dances, Saturday night "pervert" revues and the airing of pornographic horror films at art houses in San Francisco.

The NEA was given $80 million of the government's $787 billion economic stimulus bill to spread around to needy artists nationwide, and most of the money is being spent to help preserve jobs in museums, orchestras, theaters and dance troupes that have been hit hard by the recession.

But some of the NEA's grants are spicing up more than the economy. A few of their more risque choices have some taxpayer advocates hot under the collar, including a $50,000 infusion for the Frameline film house, which recently screened Thundercrack, "the world's only underground kinky art porno horror film, complete with four men, three women and a gorilla."

"When you spend so much money in a short amount of time ... you're going to have nonsense like this, and that's why the stimulus should never have been done in the first place," said David Williams, vice president for policy at Citizens Against Government Waste.

Click here for a full list of all of the NEA's Recovery Act grants.

Williams said such support for the arts is a luxury at a time when the president and Congress have been telling the public to make sacrifices to manage the recession.

(snip…snip)

But he presumably didn't intend to have stimulus money help fund the weekly production of "Perverts Put Out" at San Francisco's CounterPULSE, whose "long-running pansexual performance series" invites guests to "join your fellow pervs for some explicit, twisted fun."

CounterPULSE received a $25,000 grant in the "Dance" category; a staffer there said they were pleased to receive the grant, "which over the next year will be used to preserve jobs at our small non-profit."

CounterPulse

CounterPULSE

Similarly, the director of Frameline, the gay and lesbian film house, told FOXNews.com in an e-mail that their $50,000 grant was not to support any program in particular.

"The grant is not intended for a specific program; it's to be used for the preservation of jobs at our media arts nonprofit organization over the next year during the economic downturn," wrote K.C. Price, who listed four other NEA grants his organization has received.

(wow, these ‘artists’ are too lazy even to make an effort to be perverts. Having picked your pocket, or rather your whole bank account, they are just going to mooch around for a year or two –Ed.)

(snip…snip)

"Our review process is very comprehensive — we take great care with applicants and with grantees," said NEA spokeswoman Victoria Hutter. "It's a thorough, rigorous process that they all go through, and we're proud of the projects that we've been able to support."

(through what kind of a “thorough, rigorous process” one chooses perverts? One can imagine, though not pleasantly –Ed.)

(snip…snip)

One project that has received past NEA funding and stands to get an additional boost from a $25,000 stimulus grant is "The Symmetry Project," a dance piece by choreographer Jess Curtis.

The show depicts "the sharing of a central axis, [as] spine, mouth, genitals, face, and anus reveal their interconnectedness and centrality in embodied experience," according to a description offered on Curtis' Web site.

nude routine for 'The Symmetry Project'

The Symmetry Project

(snip…snip)

Williams, the taxpayer advocate, allowed that the $100,000 granted to the three groups "isn't going to make or break the country financially," but he said arts institutions should try to raise money by raising ticket prices — not by taxing individuals.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, he said. "These sorts of programs really do need to be funded by the patrons that go to the performances — not by the federal government."

Thanks, B.H.O. In these bleak times we desperately needed the solace of spine, mouth, genitals, face and anus in interconnected centrality sharing a central axis.
